Electronic Communication

UVa Health System will make its best effort to provide you a timely response to your electronic messages. In some cases, the physician or clinic staff member who responds may not be available immediately, so you should allow at least three (3) days for a response. Emergency matters requiring immediate response cannot be submitted electronically. Also, there may be times when UVA MyChart is not available.

We can only respond to electronic messages based on the information you provide. If we do not have enough information, we will not be able to provide accurate and reliable services or information.

You will be notified via e-mail when there is new information that you can view in UVA MyChart. This means that anyone with access to your e-mail will be able to see this notice. Although no private medical information will be sent in the e-mail notice, you may wish to consider this when you provide an e-mail address. If you wish to receive e-mail notices, it is your responsibility to keep your email address up-to-date in your MyChart profile.
